Mannitol, chemical formula C6H14O6, is a sugar alcohol, an isomer of sorbitol, easily soluble in water, a white crystalline powder with a sweet taste similar to sucrose.
The Application & Function of Mannitol Powder
1. Tissue dehydrating drugs. Used to treat brain edema caused by various reasons, reduce intracranial pressure, and prevent cerebral hernia.
2. Reduce intraocular pressure. It can effectively reduce intraocular pressure and be used in cases where other intraocular pressure lowering drugs are ineffective or in preparation for intraocular surgery.
3. Permeable diuretics. Used to identify oligouria caused by pre renal factors or acute renal failure. It can also be applied to prevent acute tubular necrosis caused by various reasons.
4. As an auxiliary diuretic measure, it is used to treat nephrotic syndrome, cirrhosis, and ascites, especially when accompanied by hypoproteinemia.
