Application:

An antibiotic produced by the soil actinomycete Streptomyces griseus. It acts by inhibiting the initiation and elongation processes during protein synthesis.

In pigs and rats the drug is excreted both as parent drug and as thiamphenicol glucuronate (FAO,1997).
