The Introductction of Cephalexin Monohydrate
Cephalexin monohydrate is white to slightly yellow crystalline powder, slightly odor. It is slightly soluble in water and insoluble in ethanol, trichloromethane or ethe*.
Cephalexin monohydrate is a potent, orally available, first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that kills Gram-positive and some Gram-negative bacteria by disrupting the growth of the bacterial cell wall. Cephalexin monohydrate has been used in studies of pneumonia, streptococcal pharyngitis, and bacterial endocarditis.
Except for Enterococcus spp. and methicillin-resistant staphylococci, gram-positive cocci are sensitive to Cephalexin.Cephalexin has good antibacterial effect on Neisseria spp. and poor sensitivity to Influenza bacillus, and some antibacterial effect on some Escherichia coli, Aspergillus chimericus, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Salmonella spp. Other Enterobacteriaceae spp. bacteria, Fusobacterium indeterminis, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa are sensitive to cephalexin, as are M. fragilis. as well as Pseudomonas fragilis are resistant to cefadroxil.
The Application & Function of Cephalexin Monohydrate
Cephalexin monohydrate is a broad-spectrum antibacterial agent. It is suitable for acute tonsillitis, pharyngitis, otitis media, sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia and other respiratory tract infections caused by sensitive bacteria, urinary tract infections and soft tissue skin infections. This product is an oral preparation, and should not be used for severe infections.
Usage and dosage
Adult dosage: Oral. Generally 0.25-0.5g (1-2 capsules) once, 4 times a day, the highest dose of 4g (16 capsules) a day. For patients with reduced renal function, the dosage should be reduced according to the degree of renal hypoplasia. 0.5g (4 capsules) every 12 hours in patients with simple cystitis, soft tissue skin infections and streptococcal pharyngitis.
Dosage for children: oral. 25-50mg/kg of body weight 4 times a day. Patients with soft skin tissue infections and streptococcal pharyngitis take 12.5 to 50 mg/kg orally every 12 hours.
