Lanolin, CAS number 8006-54-0, is a light yellow or brownish yellow ointment; Viscous and slippery; The odor is weak and distinctive. Easily soluble in chloroform or ethe*, soluble in hot ethanol, and very slightly soluble in ethanol.

Lanolin is also known as wool fat, wool wax, or wool fat. Due to the fact that lanolin does not contain glycerol esters and is not a true fat, lanolin mainly contains sterol esters.

 

Lanolin belongs to the wax category in terms of chemical properties, and is a complex mixture of naturally formed esters, 33 types of high molecular alcohols (mainly sterols), and 36 types of fatty acids composed of polyesters. Esters account for at least 98%, with fatty alcohols and fatty acids accounting for approximately 50/50 each.

1. Lanolin mainly used in the manufacturing of advanced rust resistant oils in the mechanical industry; Manufacturing of rheumatic ointment and zinc oxide ointment in the pharmaceutical industry; Synthetic fibers and resins in the chemical fiber industry; The daily chemical industry produces anti crack creams, cold creams, and high-grade soaps, which have special efficacy in protecting the skin from cracks.
