The Introduction of Penicillin G Potassium
Penicillin G Potassium, an organic compound with the chemical formula C16H17KN2O4S, is readily soluble in water, isotonic saline and glucose solution, and soluble in methanol, ethanol and glycerol.
Penicillin G Potassium is a penicillin antibiotic with good antibacterial effects against Streptococcus spp. such as Streptococcus haemolyticus, Streptococcus pneumoniae and staphylococci that do not produce penicillinase, moderate antibacterial effects against Enterococcus, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Neisseria meningitidis, Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Bacillus anthracis, Actinomyces bovis, Streptococcus candida, Listeria monocytogenes, Leptospira Other Gram-negative aerobic or partly anaerobic bacteria have poor sensitivity to penicillin potassium, and have good antibacterial effect on Clostridium perfringens, Streptococcus anaerobicus and melanin-producing bacillus.
Penicillin is mainly excreted via renal tubular secretion, and only about 10% of the excretion is via glomerular filtration in healthy adults; however, in neonates, penicillin is mainly excreted via glomerular filtration. Penicillin is also excreted via the biliary tract, with a peak concentration of 10-20 mg/L in the bile 2-4 hours after intramuscular injection of 600 mg. Since penicillin can be destroyed by penicillinase produced by intestinal bacteria, the stool contains no or only a small amount of penicillin. Hemodialysis removes this product, while peritoneal dialysis does not.
The Application & function of Penicillin G Potassium
Penicillin G Potassium is indicated for a variety of infections caused by sensitive bacteria, such as abscesses, bacteremia, pneumonia, and endocarditis. Among them, penicillin is the drug of choice for the following infections.
1, hemolytic streptococcal infections such as pharyngitis, tonsillitis, scarlet fever, dengue, cellulitis and puerperal fever.
2, Streptococcus pneumoniae infections such as pneumonia, otitis media, meningitis and bacteraemia, etc.
3, non-penicillinase producing staphylococcal infections.
4, Anthrax.
5, tetanus, gas gangrene and other Clostridium difficile infections.
6, syphilis (including congenital syphilis).
7, leptospirosis.
8, regression fever.
9, Diphtheria.
10, Penicillin combined with aminoglycosides for the treatment of Streptococcus grass green endocarditis.
