The Introduction of Chloromycetin

Chloromycetin is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent with bacterial growth inhibition produced by Streptomyces chloroticus, natural Chloromycetin is levomycin (also known as levomycin). The synthetic product is white or slightly yellow needle-like or flaky crystal, odorless, extremely bitter, slightly soluble in water, ethe* and chloroform, easily soluble in methanol, alcohol, aceton* or ethyl acetate, insoluble in benzene and petroleum ethe*. It is stable in neutral or weakly acidic aqueous solution, but it is easy to fail in case of alkali.

Chloromycetin has inhibitory effect on Gram-negative bacteria and Gram-positive bacteria, etc. It can be used to treat typhoid bacillary dysentery, urinary tract infection, whooping cough, pneumonia, sepsis and other diseases. However, it is damaging to the liver, and the dosage and administration should strictly follow medical advice. The palmitate of Chloromycetin is insoluble in water and tasteless when taken orally, also known as tasteless Chloromycetin. It is released by lipolysis and enzymatic hydrolysis when taken into the small intestine. It contains about 60% Chloromycetin, so the dose should be increased by 2/3, especially for children. Ointment containing Chloromycetin 1% can be used for the treatment of eye and skin infections. In agriculture it is mainly highly effective against bacterial plant diseases, such as rice leaf blight, with strong endosmosis and safe for plants.

The Application & function of Chloromycetin

Chloromycetin is fat-soluble and can inhibit the formation of peptide chains and prevent protein synthesis. It is a bacteriostatic agent and has a bactericidal effect at high concentrations or when acting on bacteria that are highly sensitive to it. It is suitable for systemic application in typhoid, paratyphoid and other Salmonella and Bacteroides fragilis infections.
1,
Chloromycetin is the drug of choice for typhoid and paratyphoid fever, and can be used for typhoid and Salmonella spp. infections.
2,
Chloromycetin is used for ampicillin-resistant H. influenzae type B meningitis or pneumococcal, meningococcal meningitis, sensitive gram-negative bacillus meningitis in patients allergic to penicillin.
3,
Chloromycetin is used for otogenic brain abscess with mixed aerobic and anaerobic bacterial infections.
4,
Chloromycetin is used for severe anaerobic bacterial infections such as Bacteroides fragilis infection.
5,
Chloromycetin can be used in combination with aminoglycosides to treat various infections caused by sensitive bacteria and other microorganisms, such as septicemia and pulmonary infections caused by H. influenzae, Salmonella spp. and other gram-negative bacilli.
6,
Chloromycetin is used topically to treat superficial infections of the eye and ear caused by Escherichia coli, H. influenzae, Klebsiella, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus haemolyticus.
7,
Chloromycetin is also effective against rickettsia, mycoplasma, and other infections.
8,
Chloromycetin is not effective against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Serratia marcescens infections.
9,
Chloromycetin eye drops are used to treat eye infections caused by sensitive bacteria, such as trachoma, conjunctivitis, keratitis, blepharitis, etc.
10,
Chloromycetin topical ear drops can be used to treat otitis externa, acute and chronic otitis media caused by infections of sensitive bacteria, and this drug ear plugs can also be used for otitis and those who have pus after mastoid radical surgery. Drug resistance and resistance
