Human API Thyroid Hormone and Antithyroid Drugs Potassium Iodate CAS 7758-05-6
Potassium iodate is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula KIO3. It is a white crystalline powder, soluble in water, dilute sulfuric acid and potassium iodide solution, but insoluble in ethanol and liquid ammonia. Used as analytical reagent, oxidant and oxidation-reduction titrant.
Function:
1.Used as livestock feed additive, animal feed as an additive to regulate iodine deficiency.
2.Analytical reagents, also used as complexing agent, masking agent, bacterial inhibitors, etc.
3.Used as wheat flour treatment agent, dough modification agent, salt iodization agent. FDA (§184.1635, 2000) specifies that the maximum limit for bread is 0.0075% (based on the amount of wheat flour). Chinese regulations can be used for solid drinks, limited 0.26 ~ 0.4mg/kg. Iodized salt or drug can be used to prevent local thyroid disease. In recent years, potassium iodate has been used as an antitumor drug, and it has been found that it can inhibit tumor growth in some cases.
