The Introductction
Beauvericin is a fusarium toxin. Beauvericin inhibited acyl-CoA: cholesterol acyltransferase (ACAT) activity with an IC50 of 3 μM in rat liver microsomal enzyme experiments.
Beauveria bassiana is a kind of ascomycetes insectogenous fungi, the main species including Beauveria bassiana and Beauveria bursiana, etc., often through asexual reproduction -- conidium, hypha has transverse and branch. Beauveria bassiana has a wide distribution range, from an altitude of a few meters to more than 2,000 meters have been found in the mountains, Beauveria bassiana can invade 6 orders 15 families of more than 200 insects, mites and insects prolifically, while producing beauverine (non-ribosomal polypeptide toxoid), oosporin (benzoquinoid toxoid) and calcium oxalate crystals, these substances can cause insect poisoning. Disrupt metabolism and cause death.

The Application & Function
Beauvericin is mainly infected by contact with the insect skin, and can also be infected through the digestive tract and respiratory tract. The way of infection varies with different species, insect state and environmental conditions.
Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) or fluorescent staining showed that high-toxic strains of Beauveria bassiana formed invasion structures on the body wall of cotton bollworm larvae for a short time, while low-toxic strains produced elongated creeping mycelia on the body wall of cotton bollworm larvae. These mycelia would absorb nutrients from the insect and eventually lead to the death of the insect.
Beauvericin can control grubs, locusts, potato beetles, aphids, leafhoppers, plantworms, a variety of lepidopteran larvae such as corn borer/pine caterpillar/peach food worm/dicarborer.
