The Introductction of Amitraz
Amitraz, also known as mitek, is an organic compound with the molecular formula C19H23N3. amitraz acaricide marketed in the 1970s can be obtained by the aminolytic reaction of mono amitraz with CH3-C7H13-N=CHOC2H5.
Amitraz is colorless needle crystal. It has the flavor of some carbamide, density 0.3, melting point 86-87℃, vapor pressure 506.6×10-7 Pa at 20℃, slightly soluble in water, soluble in xylene, aceton* and methanol and other organic solvents. It is stable to temperature and light under anhydrous condition. Unstable under acidity. Non-flammable, non-explosive, easy to decompose and deteriorate when stored for a long time in damp places.
The Application & Function of Amitraz
Amitraz has the effects of touching, refusing to eat, repelling and avoiding, and also has some gastric toxicity, fumigation and systemic effects. It is effective against various insect forms of leaf mites, but less effective against overwintering eggs. It has various poisoning mechanisms, mainly inhibiting the activity of monoamine oxidase, and inducing excitatory effects on the non-cholinergic synapses of the mite's central nervous system. It also has high activity on mites resistant to other acaricides. The efficacy period can reach 40-50 days.
Amitraz is mainly used to prevent and control various kinds of mites in fruit trees, vegetables, tea, cotton, soybeans, sugar beets, etc. It is also effective against woodlice, effective against eggs of some lepidopteran pests, effective against mealybugs, aphids, cotton bollworms, red bollworms, etc. It can also prevent and control ticks on cattle and sheep, as well as bee mites.
Amitraz can be mixed with organophosphorus, pyrethroids, abamectin and other pesticides, with synergistic effect, and can expand the killing spectrum. There are 10.8% Avi-Amitraz emulsifiable oil in the mixing preparation.
