The Introductction of Tocopheryl Acetate
Tocopheryl acetate is also known as vitamin E acetate. Light yellow viscous oily clear liquid. Exists in vegetable oils in nature. Melting point 2~3℃. Boiling point 350°C (decomposition) 140°C (0.800x103Pa~1.333x103Pa). Insoluble in water, soluble in ethanol, ethe*, aceton*, chloroform and oil. In the absence of air, it is stable to heat and alkali, and does not act with acid below 100°C. However, it is easily oxidized, and can be oxidized to quinone in air and under light or with chemical reagents. This action is accelerated if in the presence of iron and silver salts.
Tocopherol is a strong antioxidant that stops the rancidity of fatty acids in food and the digestive tract and protects cells from harmful substances produced by the oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids. Vitamin E is an excellent free radical scavenger that protects biofilms from free radical attack and is an effective anti-aging nutrient. Applications:
D-alpha-Tocopheryl Acetate is the main raw material for various VE health food products, and can be used as an intermediate for the synthesis of water-soluble Vitamin E. Although the antioxidant property of free VE is significantly higher than that of VE ester derivatives, the VE property of food or health food products with added VE ester is not impaired because VE ester is very easily hydrolyzed to the corresponding free VE by lipase catalyzed hydrolysis, and VE ester derivatives are used in a series of industries such as food additives, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, animal feeds, and nutrient fortification agents.
