The Introductction of Cefradine
Cefradine is a white or off-white crystalline powder; slightly odorless. Slightly soluble in water, almost insoluble in ethanol or ethe*.
Cefradine (also called Cephradine) for the first generation of semi-synthetic cephalosporins, antibacterial effect similar to cephalosporin, acid-resistant can be taken orally, well absorbed, high blood concentration, characterized by resistance to β-lactamase, resistant to drug-resistant S. aureus and a variety of other broad-spectrum antibiotic-resistant bacillus and so on have a rapid and reliable bactericidal effect, mainly in the form of the original urinary excretion, high concentrations in the urine. The concentration in urine is high.
Cefradine is a broad-spectrum antibiotic with the same mechanism of action as other cephalosporins, which is to inhibit the synthesis of bacterial cell wall. Gram-positive and negative bacteria have bactericidal effect, stable in acidic conditions, fasting when taking rapid absorption, not affected by penicillinase, most of the penicillinase-producing Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli also have significant antibacterial activity.
Cefradine has good antibacterial effect on some strains of Gram-positive cocci such as penicillinase-free and penicillinase-producing Staphylococcus aureus, coagulase-negative staphylococci, group A hemolytic streptococci, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Streptococcus oxysporus.
Anaerobic Gram-positive bacteria are mostly sensitive to this product, and Mimicobacterium fragilis shows resistance to this product.
Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus spp. and Enterococcus spp. are resistant to Cefradine.
The effect of Cefradine on Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria is similar to that of cefadroxil.
Cefradine is active against Neisseria gonorrhoeae and enzyme-producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae; it is less active against Haemophilus influenzae.
The antibacterial effect of Cefradine on Gram-positive bacteria, including penicillin-sensitive and resistant Staphylococcus aureus (except methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus), is stronger than that of the second- and third-generation cephalosporins; the effect on Gram-negative bacteria is not as strong as that of the second-generation cephalosporins, and even worse than that of the third-generation cephalosporins;
Cefradine is unstable to β-lactamase produced by gram-negative bacteria, but its stability to β-lactamase produced by Staphylococcus aureus is better than that of second- and third-generation cephalosporins.
The Application & Function of Cefradine
Cefradine is used clinically for infections of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin and soft tissues, such as bronchitis, pneumonia, pyelonephritis, cystitis, ear, nose and throat infections, enteritis and dysentery.
Cefradine is indicated for acute pharyngitis, tonsillitis, otitis media, bronchitis, pneumonia and other respiratory tract infections caused by sensitive bacteria, genitourinary tract infections and soft tissue skin infections, etc. It is an oral preparation and should not be used for serious infections.
Cefradine is also commonly used to prevent post-surgical infections. Arginine salt type injection, used for cardiac and renal insufficiency, this dosage form is not easy to cause sodium retention.
