The Introductction of Sulbactam Sodium
Sulbactam Sodium is white or off-white powder or crystalline powder; slightly peculiar odor; slightly bitter taste. The product is soluble in water, slightly soluble in methanol, almost insoluble in ethanol, aceton* or ethyl acetate. Sulbactam Sodium is an anti-infective drug, a semi-synthetic beta-lactamase inhibitor. This medication is not effective on its own and its mainly used in combination with cephalosporins and penicillin antibiotics.
Sulbactam Sodium is effective against bacteria such as Haemophilus influenzae, Staphylococcus aureus, and Escherichia coli, which are resistant to these two types of drugs. By combining Sulbactam Sodium with cephalosporins and penicillins, it can bring these drug-resistant bacteria down to within the sensitivity range of these antibiotics, and thus can play a good antimicrobial and bacteriostatic role.
