The Application & Function
【 Use 1 】
Pipemidic acid is a representative of the second generation quinolone antibacterial drugs, and has a wider antibacterial spectrum than nalidixic acid, which is used for urinary tract infection and ENT infection.
Mainly used in sensitive gram-negative bacteria and staphylococcus caused by urinary tract, intestinal and ear infections, such as urethritis, cystitis, dysentery, enteritis, otitis media and so on.
The antibacterial activity and antibacterial spectrum of piperic acid are stronger and wider than that of nalidixic acid, but inferior to fluoroquinolones (norfloxacin, etc.). Bacteria resistant to nalidixic acid may still be sensitive to nalidixic acid. The indication of piperate acid is urinary tract infection and intestinal infection caused by sensitive bacteria (mainly gram-negative bacteria, such as Escherichia coli, pneumobacter, Aerogenes, indole-positive and indole-negative Proteus, serratia, Typhoid, shigella, pseudomonas, etc.). The lowest inhibitory concentration of this product against P. aeruginosa was 12.5-50 μg/mL, which was superior to carbenicillin. Combined with gentamicin and oxybenzicillin can generally achieve synergistic effect, but it is best to have a combined drug susceptibility test as a basis. Pioperic acid has also been used to treat biliary tract infection, respiratory tract infection, wound infection, mastitis, keratitis caused by sensitive bacteria, and has achieved certain results.
