Myricycin is a multi-component macrolide antibiotic, mainly composed of two components, madecycin A1 and guitamycin A2, with no less than 850 madecycin units per mg. The mechanism of antibacterial action is through binding to the 50S ribosome subunit of bacteria and inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial proteins. Myblemycin has strong antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Streptococcus pyogenes, hemolytic streptococcus, pneumococcus, mycoplasma pneumoniae influenzae, gonococcus and meningococcus.
