The Introduction of Fisetin
Fisetin (FIT) is a yellow needle-like crystalline compound of flavonoids (dilute ethanol), melting point 330℃ (decomposition). Soluble in ethanol, aceton* and acetic acid. Almost insoluble in water, ethe*, benzene, chloroform and petroleum ethe*, melting point 348℃.
Fisetin is extracted from Toxicodendronsylvestre (Sieb. etZucc.) O. Kuntze, a wood wax tree of the lacquer family, and is widely distributed in vegetables and fruits. Because of its special structure with o-diphenolic hydroxyl group on the B ring makes laccasein has strong pharmacological effects, such as antiviral, treatment of xanthogranulomatous viral hepatitis; inhibition of apoptosis, human melanoma, anti-angiogenesis, neuroprotection, anti-cancer and other pharmacological activities. Although the drug laccasein has significant effects in the prevention and treatment of diseases, its lower water solubility (solubility less than 1 mg/mL), chemical instability, low lipid solubility and dissolution rate, and faster metabolism are the properties that limit its pharmaceutical formulation and clinical application.
The Application & Function of Fisetin
Efficacy of Fisetin (FIT):
1. Prostaglandin inhibition: It inhibits the production of prostaglandin in the fibroblasts of 3T3 mice mutated by methylcholanthrene transformation, with an effective inhibitory concentration (ID50) of 42.0UM.
2. Enzyme inhibition: It inhibits alloglucan reductase in rat eye lens, the half effective inhibitory concentration is 10-6M
3. Antispasmodic: In mouse small intestine specimens, its effectiveness against the spasmogenic effect of acetylcholine was 166% of that of poppi bases.
4. Lacrimalin in vegetables and fruits helps to improve memory.
