The Introductction of Αlpha-Lipoic Acid

Alpha-lipoic acid is also known as alpha-lipoic acid. alpha-lipoic acid is a light yellow powdered crystal, almost odorless. Solubility in water is small, about 1 g/L (20°C). Soluble in 10% NaOH solution, soluble in aliphatic solvents. Soluble in methanol, ethanol, chloroform and ethe*.

Alpha Lipoic Acid is a water-soluble and fat-soluble metabolic antioxidant, a vitamin-like substance.

Alpha lipoic acid improves islet function and glucose metabolism, reduces AGE formation and attenuates oxidative stress, apparently helping to prevent heart disease and strokes. It is not an exaggeration to call it a "good helper" in the prevention and treatment of diabetes complications. Because alpha-lipoic acid supplementation enhances the insulin effect, it can also reduce the amount of insulin or hypoglycemic drugs used by patients. However, the results of these animal studies or small-scale clinical studies are yet to be clinically validated on a large scale.

The antioxidant effect of lipoic acid has also been shown to be synergistic with vitamins E and C and other phytochemical antioxidants, such as silymarin (an antioxidant component of bitter thistle extract), and in the clinical treatment of diabetic neuropathy, gamma-linoleic acid (GLA), which is found to be enriched in evening primrose oil and vitex oil, has been found to enhance the effect of lipoic acid in the management of neuropathy. The results of this study showed that GLA in evening primrose oil and vitex oil enhances the role of lipoic acid in neuropathy management.

Lipoic acid can act as an antioxidant in both water-soluble and non-water-soluble environments, and has been found to have a positive effect on a variety of chronic diseases other than diabetes, such as cardiovascular disease and liver and kidney disease. It has a therapeutic effect on neuropathy caused by alcohol or chemically toxic substances, and also helps to repair liver cells that have been chronically overstimulated. Dermatological studies have confirmed that lipoic acid has a significant anti-wrinkle effect and is effective in preventing skin aging. Clinical studies in dermatology have confirmed that topical lipoic acid has the effect of reducing the formation of fine lines in the skin and protecting skin cells from UV rays.

The Application & Function of Αlpha-Lipoic Acid

1. Help patients reduce their dependence on insulin and glucose-lowering medications
Alpha-lipoic acid is the only universal oxygenating agent that is both fat-soluble and water-soluble, and the effect of lipoic acid is longer lasting than other antioxidants. Lipoic acid can balance blood sugar, promote glucose absorption, improve blood sugar control in diabetic patients, and reduce the use of insulin or glucose-lowering drugs.

2. Protect nerve tissue in diabetic patients and help treat peripheral neuropathy
Foreign studies have shown that alpha lipoic acid can significantly improve clinical symptoms caused by diabetic peripheral neuropathy, and has been recommended in Germany for more than 30 years for the adjuvant treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy. alpha lipoic acid can protect the nerve tissue of diabetic patients and help treat inflammation caused by protein deposition in nerve cells.

3. Alpha lipoic acid is a superb antioxidant
Alpha lipoic acid has 5-10 times the antioxidant capacity of grape seeds, which in turn has 20 times the antioxidant capacity of vitamin C. 60 times that of vitamin E. It is both fat-soluble and water-soluble and can be absorbed by various tissues and organs.
