Spiramycin, which is dissolved in methanol, ethanol, is almost insoluble in water and insoluble in petroleum. A macrolide antibiotic obtained from Streptomyces ambofaciens. Spiramycin is an acetate of acetylspiramycin, which is deacetylated after oral administration and shows strong antibacterial effect. Spiramycin is a strong bacteriostatic agent that is bactericidal only at very high concentrations.
Function:
