The Introduction of Chrysin Powder
Populin, also known as chrysotidin, is a flavonoid compound with extensive pharmacological activity extracted from the woody butterfly plant of the Bignoniaceae family.
The content of populin in propolis is relatively high, with a light yellow prismatic crystal (crystallized from methanol) and a melting point of 285 ℃. Soluble in hydroxide alkali solution, slightly soluble, ethanol, and chloroform, insoluble in water. It exists in the seeds and stem bark of the Oroxylum indicum (L.) Vent, the heartwood of Pinus monticola Dougl., and the heartwood of P. aristata Engelm. The content of chrysin in propolis is high. It has a wide range of pharmacological and physiological activities such as anti-oxidation, anti-tumor, anti-cancer, anti-virus, anti hypertension, anti diabetes, anti-bacterial, anti allergy, etc. Moreover, it is widely distributed in plants with low toxicity, so it is a very important resource in the development and research of new drugs. [1] It has toxic effects on certain cancer cells.
