The Introductction
The Application & Function
lipoic acid, C8H14O2S2, is an organic compound that can be used as a coenzyme to participate in acyl transfer in substance metabolism in the body and eliminate free radicals that lead to accelerated aging and disease. Lipoic acid is absorbed into cells through the gut and is both fat - and water-soluble.
Lipoic acid, as a coenzyme, plays a role in two key oxidative decarboxylation reactions, catalyzing the production and transfer of acyl groups in the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex and α-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase complex. Lipoic acid accepts the acetyl group of the acyl group and the acetyl group of the pyruvate, forming A thioester bond, and then transfers the acetyl group to the sulfur atom of the coA molecule. The dihydrothioctane amide formed by the cogroup can be reoxidized by dihydrothioctane dehydrogenase (requiring NAD+) to form oxidized thioctane amide. Alpha-lipoic acid contains a disulfide five-membered ring structure, has a high electron density, has a significant electron affinity and the ability to react with free radicals, so it has antioxidant, has extremely high health function and medical value (such as anti-fatty liver and lower plasma cholesterol effect). In addition, the sulfhydryl group of lipoic acid is easy to undergo REDOX reaction, so it can protect sulfhydrase from heavy metal ions. Lipoic acid is widely distributed in nature, especially in liver and yeast cells. Lipoic acid is often found in foods together with vitamin B1. The human body can synthesize. Lipoic acid deficiency has not been found in humans.
α-Lipoic Acid is a cofactor of pyruvate dehydrogenase complex, ketoglutaric acid and amino acid hydrogenase complex. This drug inhibits lipid oxidation in nerve tissue, prevents glycosylation of proteins, inhibits aldose reductase, and prevents conversion of glucose or galactose to sorbitol. Animal studies have shown that this drug can prevent the development of diabetes, promote the use of glucose, prevent hyperglycemia caused by neuropathy. Lipoic acid into the human body is easy to be reduced to dihydrolipoic acid, both can promote the regeneration of vitamin C, vitamin E, play an antioxidant role. This drug can also increase the intracellular glutathione and coenzyme Q10 and chelate some metal ions.
For paraesthesia caused by diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
