The Application & Function
Neomycin sulfate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic. The product has good antibacterial action against Staphylococcus (methicillin-sensitive strains), Corynebacterium, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Proteus and other Enterobacteriaceae bacteria, but poor activity against streptococcus, Streptococcus pneumoniae and Enterococcus of each group. Pseudomonas aeruginosa, anaerobic bacteria and other drug resistant to this product. Bacteria have partial or complete cross-resistance to streptomycin, neomycin, kanamycin and gentamicin. The systemic use of neomycin has significant renal and ototoxicity, so it is limited to oral or topical use.
It is a broad spectrum antibiotic and has good action against Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus diphtheria and Bacillus anthracis
