The Introduction of Nitrofurazone
Nitrofurazone is a yellow crystalline powder, odorless, tastes light at first, but has a slightly bitter aftertaste, the color darkens under sunlight, 236-240 ℃ melt and decompose at the same time. Slightly soluble in ethanol, very slightly soluble in water, almost insoluble in ether and chloroform.
Nitrofurazone is an antibacterial drug in the nitrofuran group. This group also includes furazolidone, furantoin. nitrofurazone is highly toxic orally and is used for topical or surface disinfection in surgery.
Nitrofurazone is a synthetic topical nitrofuran disinfectant that acts to interfere with bacterial sugar metabolic processes and oxidative enzyme systems, resulting in bacterial inhibition or sterilization. Furacilin has a wide antibacterial spectrum and is resistant to a variety of gram-positive and negative bacteria. It can inhibit general bacteria in vitro and kill bacteria at higher concentrations, and the effect of topical rinses or wet compresses in dealing with surface infections and skin diseases is more ideal and has been strongly promoted in clinical practice.
The Application & function of Nitrofurazone
Nitrofurazone is used clinically only as an antiseptic and antiseptic agent for infections of the skin and mucous membranes, such as purulent otitis media, purulent dermatitis, acute and chronic rhinitis, burns, ulcers, etc.. It is almost non-irritating to tissues, and pus and blood have no significant effect on its disinfection effect.
Nitrofurazone is used as a synthetic antibacterial agent for disinfection and antisepsis, but it is not easily metabolized. The residues of furan metabolites in animal-derived foods can be passed to humans through the food chain, and long-term intake can cause various diseases, with side effects such as carcinogenic and teratogenic to humans. It can inhibit the hematopoietic function of bone marrow, reduce the formation of protein and glycogen in the liver, and destroy the excretory function of kidney, which can cause toxic liver dystrophy and significant prolongation of blood clotting time after long-term mass application.
