Asparagine is an organic compound with the chemical formula C4H8N2O3. It has two optical isomers, D and L. Pharmacological action
Intravenous injection can cause a decrease in blood pressure, peripheral vascular dilation, increased cardiac contractility, slower heart rate, and increased urine output. Oral administration of acetylsalicylic acid can prevent gastric mucosal damage in pyloric ligation rats. Animal experiments have shown significant antitussive and certain antiasthmatic effects.
