The Introductction of Clotrimazole
Clotrimazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal agent, which has a good antibacterial effect on a variety of fungi, especially Candida albicans. Its mechanism is to inhibit the synthesis of fungal cell membrane and affect its metabolic process. It has antibacterial effect on superficial fungi and some deep fungi. It is mainly used externally to treat skin mycosis, such as tinea manus and pedis, tinea corporis, ear canal, vaginal mycosis, etc.
This product is highly toxic. Oral administration may cause gastrointestinal reaction, abnormal liver function and leukopenia. It is now used less. No adverse reaction for external use, with occasional local inflammation. 1%~3% cream and suppository are used externally.
The Application & Function of Clotrimazole
Antifungal skin drugs are used to treat deep and shallow mycosis caused by sensitive bacteria. Such as cryptococcal meningitis, candidal pneumonia, enteritis, histoplasmosis, tinea corporis, tinea manus and pedis, etc. Among them, the treatment of candidiasis is the best, but it is not effective for tinea capitis either externally or orally.
