Cholesterol-reducing ezetimibe Powder CAS 163222-33-1
Ezetimibe is a white crystalline powder, easily soluble in ethanol, methanol, insoluble in water, melting point is about 163℃, stable at room temperature. Ezetimibe only acts on Chemicalbook small intestine and reduces the transport of intestinal cholesterol to the liver and its storage by inhibiting the absorption of cholesterol. It enhances the removal of cholesterol from the blood, thereby lowering plasma cholesterol levels.
Function of ezetimibe:
Ezetimibe is a new class of selective cholesterol absorption inhibitors. By binding to the upper membrane proteins (relative molecular weight 145X103) of small intestinal brush-border membrane vesicles, it inhibits the absorption of dietary and biliary cholesterol from the small intestine, and reduces the cholesterol content in serum and liver.
