Sodium cromoglicate, also known as disodium cromoglycate, has a good preventive and therapeutic effect on immediate allergic reactions. Its mechanism of action is to stabilize the cell membrane of mast cells and prevent degranulation of mast cells, thereby inhibiting the release of allergic response mediators such as histamine, serotonin, and slow-reacting substances, thereby inhibiting the adverse effects of allergic response mediators on tissues. Its effect on inhibiting the release of allergic response mediators may be through the inhibition of intracellular cyclophosphate phosphodiesterase, resulting in an increase in the concentration of intracellular cyclophosphate (cAMP), preventing calcium ions from being transported into mast cells, thereby stabilizing hypertrophy cell membrane, preventing the release of allergic response mediators.
The Application & Function
It is used to prevent the attack of allergic asthma, improve subjective symptoms, and increase the patient's tolerance to exercise. Most children with chronic refractory asthma who use this product have partial or complete remission. When combined with isoproterenol, the effective rate is significantly higher than that of single use. However, the onset of this product is slow, and it takes several days to take effect. If the disease has occurred, the medication is mostly ineffective. Clinical studies have found that sodium cromoglycate is not only effective for allergic asthma where allergic factors play a major role, but also effective for chronic asthma with insignificant allergic effects. For allergic rhinitis and seasonal hay fever, it can quickly control symptoms. External application of ointment for chronic allergic eczema and certain skin pruritus has also seen significant curative effect. 2% to 4% eye drops are suitable for hay fever, conjunctivitis and vernal keratoconjunctivitis.
