Sulfamethazine is a sulfonamide antibiotic.
Sulfadiazine, an organic compound with the chemical formula C12H14N4O2S, is a broad-spectrum antibacterial agent that is similar in structure to p-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) and can act competitively with PABA on the bifolate synthase in bacteria, thereby preventing the process of synthesizing folic acid required by bacteria using PABA as a raw material, reducing the amount of metabolically active tetrahydrofolate, which is synthesized by bacteria Thymidine nucleoside and deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) are essential substances that inhibit the growth and reproduction of bacteria.
 

The Application & Function

 

It is mainly used for mild infections caused by sensitive bacteria, such as acute simple lower urinary tract infections, acute otitis media, and skin and soft tissue infections.

 

Sulfadiazine is a sulfadiazine antibacterial agent with a similar antibacterial spectrum to sulfadiazine. It has antibacterial effects against non enzyme producing Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Salmonella, Shigella, and other enterobacteriaceae bacteria, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Neisseria meningitidis, and Haemophilus influenzae. However, the drug resistance of bacteria to this product is increased, especially among Streptococcus, Neisseria, and Enterobacteriaceae bacteria. Sulfonamides are broad-spectrum antibacterial agents that are structurally similar to p-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) and can compete with PABA to act on the dihydrofolate synthase in bacteria, thereby preventing PABA from synthesizing the folic acid required by bacteria as a raw material, reducing the amount of metabolically active tetrahydrofolate, which is essential for bacteria to synthesize purine, thymidine, and deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), thereby inhibiting the growth and reproduction of bacteria.
