The Introductction of Cefalexin Cephalexin
Cefalexin, an organic compound with the chemical formula of C16H17N3O4S, is a semi-synthetic first-generation oral cephalosporin antibiotic drug, which can inhibit the synthesis of cell wall, expand the cell contents to rupture and dissolve, and kill bacteria.
The Application & Function of Cefalexin Cephalexin
Cephalexin is the first generation of semi-synthetic oral cephalosporin. Its mechanism of action is to inhibit the cell wall synthesis of bacterial division cells by combining with one or more penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) of bacteria (Cephalexin mainly combines with PBP-3), thus playing an antibacterial role. The antibacterial spectrum of cefalexin is similar to that of cefthiophene, but its antibacterial activity is worse than that of the latter. In addition to Enterococcus and Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus, Gram-positive cocci are sensitive to cephalexin. Cephalexin has a good antibacterial effect on Neisseria, but a poor sensitivity to influenza bacilli. It has a certain antibacterial effect on some Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Salmonella. Other Enterobacteriaceae, Acinetobacter, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Bacteroides fragilis are resistant to Cephalexin.
