The Introductction of Halquinol

Streptomycin sulfate is the sulfate form of streptomycin, an antibiotic produced by Streptomyces griseus in the soil. Streptomycin is the most effective and least toxic antibiotic obtained by Streptomyces for extra gastrointestinal application. It is a bactericidal agent, probably by its direct action on bacterial ribosomes and inhibition of protein synthesis, mainly acting on extracellular (including intracellular) Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Streptomycin sulfate is white or off-white powder, odorless, slightly bitter, moisture-attracting, easily soluble in water, soluble in water and more stable in nature, insoluble in ethanol or trichloromethane, stable in dry condition, airtight and protected from light for more than 4 years with constant potency, aqueous solution can be stored at room temperature pH 3-7 for 2-4 weeks, easily destroyed by acid, alkali, oxidizing agents.

Streptomycin sulfate has antibacterial effect on most Gram-positive and negative bacteria, especially on many Gram-negative bacilli such as Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Bartonella, Borrelia burgdorferi, Bacillus pneumoniae, Bacillus dysenteriae, Bacillus pneumoniae and Bacillus rhinoceros. It is the drug of choice against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and has a strong effect on Mycobacterium tuberculosis, with strong antibacterial effect at low concentration and bactericidal effect at high concentration.

Streptomycin sulfate is effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, but it is less effective than penicillin G against gram-positive bacteria such as streptococci and pneumococci, and is not effective against rickettsiae, protozoa, viruses and fungi; it is more effective against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and a variety of gram-negative bacteria, such as Escherichia coli, Borrelia burgdorferi, Bacillus pneumoniae, Mycobacterium influenzae, Mycobacterium dysenteriae, Mycobacterium plague, etc.

Streptomycin sulfate is mainly used for the treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis, bone tuberculosis, lymphatic tuberculosis, intestinal tuberculosis, tuberculous meningitis caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis and meningitis, pneumonia, septicemia, abscess chest, pleurisy, peritonitis caused by sensitive strains, and also for urinary tract and respiratory tract infections caused by sensitive strains.
