The Introductction of Naphazoline Hydrochloride
Naphazoline hydrochloride is a vasoconstrictor commonly used in otorhinolaryngology and ophthalmology in hospitals at present. It is an adrenaline-like drug with strong vasoconstrictive and antihypertensive effects, inhibits the central nervous system, plays an anti-inflammatory and analgesic role in the local lesion tissue where inflammation occurs by contracting local blood vessels, and can eliminate congestion caused by fatigue or other reasons.
Naphazoline hydrochloride is a white crystalline powder. Melting point 255-260℃. Dissolves 40g of this product in 100ml of water. Freely soluble in ethanol, slightly soluble in chloroform, insoluble in benzene and ether. Odorless, bitter taste.
The Application & function of Naphazoline Hydrochloride
Clinically naphthazoline hydrochloride is used for the treatment of colds, acute and chronic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, allergic and inflammatory nasal congestion.
Topical long-term use of naphazoline hydrochloride can lead to excessive blood flow to the medicated portion, which can cause decreased resistance and result in secondary infection. Cannot be taken internally. Too many drops or too high a concentration of the drug can cause poisoning. Caution should be exercised especially in children, infants, hypertension, hyperthyroidism, and atrophic rhinitis. The interval between drops should be at least 4~6 hours.
