Rotundine, with the chemical name of 2,3,9,10-tetramethoxy-5,8,13,13a-tetrahydro-6H-dibenzo [a, g] quinazine and the molecular formula of C21H25NO4, is an antipyretic and analgesic drug. It is mainly used clinically to treat the pain of gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, menstrual pain, post delivery uterine contraction pain, tension insomnia, spastic cough, etc.
The Application & Function of Rotundine /Tetrahydropalmatine
The product has analgesic, sedative, hypnotic and tranquilizing effects. Its analgesic effect is stronger than general antipyretic and analgesic drugs. No respiratory inhibition and gastrointestinal smooth muscle spasm were observed at the therapeutic dose. It has good effect on chronic persistent pain and visceral dull pain, but poor effect on acute acute pain (such as postoperative pain, traumatic pain, etc.) and advanced cancer pain. It can cause sedation and hypnosis while producing analgesic effect. The mechanism of action of the product remains to be clarified, which may be related to inhibiting the activation of the ascending system of the brainstem reticular formation and blocking the function of dopamine receptors in the brain.
