The Introductction of Neomycin sulfate
Neomycin sulfate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic.
Neomycin sulfate is a white or off-white powder; odorless; very easy to induce wet; aqueous solution shows right-sided light. It is very soluble in water and almost insoluble in ethanol, ether, acetone or chloroform.
Neomycin sulfate has good antibacterial effect on Enterobacteriaceae such as Staphylococcus spp.(methicillin sensitive strain), Corynebacterium spp., Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp. and Aspergillus spp. It has poor activity on all groups of Streptococcus, Streptococcus pneumoniae and Enterococcus spp. Pseudomonas aeruginosa, anaerobic bacteria, etc. are resistant to this product. The bacteria have partial or complete cross-resistance to streptomycin, neomycin and kanamycin, gentamicin.
Neomycin has significant nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity when administered systemically, so it is limited to oral or topical application.
The Application & Function of Neomycin sulfate
Neomycin sulfate is a broad-spectrum antibiotic, which works well against Bacillus aureus, Bacillus diphtheriae and Bacillus anthracis.
Neomycin sulfate is used to prevent and control dysentery, diarrhea and stunting caused by E. coli and Salmonella in pigs, chickens, cattle and other livestock.
Neomycin sulfate can also be used as enteritis treatment for fish and shrimp among aquatic.
