The Introductction of Gentamycin sulfate
Gentamycin sulfate is an organic substance with the chemical formula C60H125O22N15-H2SO4, white or off-white crystalline powder, moisture-attracting, easily soluble in water, insoluble in lipids, insoluble in organic solvents, chemically stable, more stable to changes in temperature and acidity, pH 4.0-6.0 in 4% aqueous solution.
Gentamycin sulfate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic. It has good antibacterial effect on various Gram-negative bacteria and Gram-positive bacteria, and has good antibacterial effect on various Enterobacteriaceae such as Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Aspergillus, Salmonella, Shigella, Enterobacter, Serratia and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Neisseria spp. and Haemophilus influenzae are moderately sensitive to gentamicin sulfate.
Gentamycin sulfate also has some effect on Brucella spp, Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus immobilis, and Campylobacter fetus.
Gentamycin sulfate has good antibacterial effect on about 80% of methicillin-sensitive strains of Staphylococcus spp. (including Staphylococcus aureus and coagulase-negative Staphylococcus), but methicillin-resistant strains are mostly resistant to gentamicin sulfate.
Gentamycin sulfate is less effective against Streptococcus spp. and Streptococcus pneumoniae, while Enterococcus spp. are mostly resistant to this product.
When Gentamycin sulfate is combined with β-lactams, most of them can obtain synergistic antibacterial effect.
The mechanism of action of Gentamycin sulfate is to bind to the 30S subunit of bacterial ribosome and inhibit bacterial protein synthesis.
The Application & Function of Gentamycin sulfate
Gentamycin sulfate is clinically used for sepsis, respiratory tract infection, biliary tract infection, purulent peritonitis, intracranial infection, urinary tract infection and bacillary dysentery caused by Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Bacillus dysenteriae, Klebsiella, Bacillus deformans and other sensitive bacteria.
1. Gentamycin sulfate used for the treatment of serious infections caused by sensitive gram-negative bacilli, such as Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Enterobacter, Aspergillus, Serratia, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and staphylococcal methicillin-sensitive strains, such as sepsis, lower respiratory tract infections, intestinal infections, pelvic infections, abdominal infections, skin soft tissue infections, complicated urinary tract infections, etc. The treatment of abdominal infection and pelvic infection should be combined with anti-anaerobic drugs, and gentamicin is mostly used clinically in combination with other antibacterial drugs. Combined with penicillin (or ampicillin) can be used to treat enterococcal infections.
2. Gentamycin sulfate used for central nervous system infection caused by sensitive bacteria, such as meningitis, ventriculitis, can be used at the same time with the product intrathecal injection as an adjuvant treatment.
