The Introductction of Ciprofloxacin Hydrochloride
Ciprofloxacin hydrochloride is the hydrochloride salt of ciprofloxacin, which is a synthetic second-generation quinolone antibacterial drug with broad-spectrum antibacterial activity and good bactericidal effect. It is 2-4 times stronger than norfloxacin and enrofloxacin in antibacterial activity against almost all bacteria, and has antibacterial effects on Enterobacter, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Haemophilus influenzae, gonococcus, streptococcus, Legionella and Staphylococcus aureus.
Ciprofloxacin hydrochloride is white or slightly yellow crystalline powder; almost odorless, bitter taste.
Ciprofloxacin hydrochloride is soluble in water, slightly soluble in methanol, very slightly soluble in ethanol, almost insoluble in chloroform, easily soluble in sodium hydroxide test solution.
The mechanism of action of ciprofloxacin hydrochloride is that it can bind to bacterial DNA gyrase subunit A, which inhibits the cleavage and linkage function of the enzyme and prevents the replication of bacterial DAN, and presents antibacterial effect. It has good water solubility, broad spectrum and high efficiency. It has significant antibacterial effect on Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Haemophilus influenzae, gonococcus, streptococcus, Legionella, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacteroides fragilis and Mycoplasma, which is better than other similar drugs as well as cephalosporins and aminoglycosides, and also has obvious effect on β-lactam-resistant and gentamicin-resistant pathogens.
Ciprofloxacin hydrochloride can be used for
(1) genitourinary system infections caused by sensitive bacteria, including simple and complicated urinary tract infections, bacterial prostatitis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae urethritis or cervicitis (including those caused by enzyme-producing strains).
(2) Respiratory tract infections, including acute attacks of bronchial infections and pulmonary infections due to sensitive gram-negative bacilli.
(3) Gastrointestinal infections, caused by Shigella spp., Salmonella spp., enterotoxin-producing Escherichia coli, Aeromonas hydrophila, and Vibrio parahaemolyticus.
(4) Typhoid fever.
(5) Bone and joint infections.
(6) Skin and soft tissue infections.
(7) Septicemia and other systemic infections.
