The Introductction of Levofloxacin hydrochloride
Levofloxacin hydrochloride is a white to light yellow crystalline powder, odorless and bitter in taste. It is slightly soluble in water, very slightly soluble in ethanol, insoluble in ether; soluble in glacial acetic acid, slightly soluble in 0.1mol/L hydrochloric acid solution.
Levofloxacin hydrochloride tablets are synthetic antibacterial drugs, belonging to the quinolone class of bactericidal agents, whose antibacterial mechanism is mainly to inhibit bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, inhibit the synthesis and replication of bacterial DNA to achieve the purpose of sterilization, with strong antibacterial effect, broad antibacterial spectrum, good oral absorption, long duration of action, wide distribution in vivo, high tissue concentration, and no cross-resistance with other antibacterial drugs.
Its main mechanism of action is to inhibit the activity of bacterial DNA rotase (bacterial topoisomerase II) and prevent bacterial DNA replication. It has the characteristics of wide antibacterial spectrum and strong antibacterial effect.
Levofloxacin hydrochloride has strong antibacterial activity against most Enterobacteriaceae, such as Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp, Serratia spp, Aspergillus spp, Shigella spp, Salmonella spp, Citrobacter spp, Immunobacterium spp, as well as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Haemophilus influenzae, gonorrhea and other gram-negative bacteria. It also has good antibacterial effect on some methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus haemolyticus and other Gram-positive bacteria and Legionella, Mycoplasma and Chlamydia. However, it has poor effect on anaerobic bacteria and enterococci.
The Application & Levofloxacin hydrochloride
Levofloxacin hydrochloride is indicated for the following mild, moderate and severe infections of the respiratory system caused by sensitive bacteria: acute bronchitis, chronic bronchitis, acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, diffuse fine bronchitis, bronchiectasis co-infection, pneumonia, pharyngitis, tonsillitis (peri-tonsillar abscess).
Levofloxacin hydrochloride is indicated for urinary system infections: pyelonephritis, complicated urinary tract infections, etc. Reproductive system infections: prostatitis, epididymitis, uterine infection, uterine adnexitis, pelvic inflammatory disease (metronidazole may be used in combination with suspected anaerobic bacterial infection).
Levofloxacin hydrochloride is indicated for skin and soft tissue infections: infectious impetigo, cellulitis, lymphadenitis, subcutaneous abscess, perianal abscess, etc.
Levofloxacin hydrochloride is indicated for intestinal infections: bacterial dysentery, infectious enteritis, Salmonella spp. enteritis, typhoid and paratyphoid fever, etc.
Levofloxacin hydrochloride is indicated for other infections: trauma
