Introductction:
Gentamicin sulfate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that inhibits the growth of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and inhibits many mycoplasma strains in tissue cultures. The IC50 value of inhibiting DNase I activity was 0.57 mM.
Function:
Its mechanism of action is to bind firmly to specific proteins on bacterial ribosomal subunits, interfere with ribosomal function, prevent protein synthesis, and cause coding errors on translation messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) to synthesize non-functional proteins.
It is clinically used in sepsis, respiratory tract infection, bILIARY tract infection, PURulent peritONitis, intracranial infection, urinary tract infection and dysentery caused by Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, EsCHERichia coli, Dysentery, Klebsiella, PROTEus and other sensitive bacteria.
