The Application & Function of Penicillin Sodium:
Penicillin sodium is suitable for infections caused by sensitive bacteria, such as swine erysipelas, anthrax, emphysema, malignant edema, actinomycosis, equine bubonic plague, necrobacter disease, bovine pyelonephritis, leptospirosis and mastitis, uterine inflammation, pneumonia, sepsis, etc. When treating tetanus, it should be used in combination with tetanus antitoxin.
Medicine interactions of Penicillin Sodium
(1) Probenecid, aspirin, phenylbutazone, and sulfa drugs have a blocking effect on the excretion of penicillin, and their combined use can increase the blood concentration of penicillin, and may also increase the toxicity.
(2) Bacteriostatic agents such as chloramol, erythromycin, and tetracycline interfere with the bactericidal activity of penicillin, and should not be used together.
(3) Heavy metal ions (especially copper, zinc, mercury), alcohols, acids, iodine, oxidants, reducing agents, hydroxyl compounds, and acidic glucose injection or tetracycline injection can destroy the activity of penicillin, and are contraindicated. Also should not be touched.
