The Introductction of Prednisolone

Prednisolone, also known as hydrogenated prednisone, chloroprednisone, prednisolone, dehydrocortisone, Bactrim, prednisolone acetate, acetate is a white or almost white crystalline powder, odorless, bitter. It is almost insoluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol or chloroform. It is an adrenal glucocorticoid and corticosteroid drug, and is a medium-acting glucocorticoid. Its efficacy is comparable to that of prednisone, its anti-inflammatory effect is stronger, and its water-salt metabolism effect is very weak.

Prednisolone is mainly used for allergic and inflammatory diseases. It is generally not used as replacement therapy for hyperalgesia because of its weak sodium retention effect. It should be avoided in patients with hyperadrenocorticism, hypertension, atherosclerosis, heart failure, diabetes, psychosis, epilepsy, postoperative patients, and patients with gastric or duodenal ulcers, intestinal disease, or chronic malnutrition. Do not use this class of drugs for general infections. In case of acute infection poisoning, it must be applied in conjunction with an adequate amount of effective antibacterial drugs. For severe tuberculosis, an adequate amount of anti-tuberculosis drugs should be used in combination, and the dosage should be reduced and stopped in a timely manner according to the condition.

When applied in large quantities or for a long time, it may cause obesity, hirsutism, acne, increased blood sugar, hypertension, increased intraocular pressure, sodium and water retention, edema, decreased blood potassium, mental excitement, gastric and duodenal ulcers and even bleeding and perforation, osteoporosis, decalcification, pathological fractures, and poor wound healing. When injected or applied locally, it can sometimes cause joint damage, local necrosis, skin atrophy, etc.
