Gatifloxacin is an 8-methoxyfluoroquinolone racemic compound with a chemical formula of C19H22FN3O4. It has a broad spectrum of activity against Gram-negative and positive microorganisms in vitro, and its R- and S-enantiomers have the same antibacterial activity . Gatifloxacin is a fourth-generation novel broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic with broad-spectrum, high-efficiency, low toxicity, and no cross-resistance.
The Application & Function of Gatifloxacin :
The antibacterial effect of gatifloxacin is by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, thereby inhibiting bacterial DNA replication, transcription and repair processes.
