The Introductction of Sulfadiazine :

 

Sulfadiazine is a sulfonamide anti-infective drug commonly used in clinical practice in my country, also known as sulfadiazine, diazine, and the molecular structure of sulfadiazine is similar to p-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), which can compete with PABA to act in bacteria Dihydrofolate synthase, which prevents PABA as a raw material from synthesizing folic acid required by bacteria, reducing the amount of metabolically active tetrahydrofolate, which is used by bacteria to synthesize purine, thymidine and deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) essential substances, thus inhibiting the growth and reproduction of bacteria. Sulfadiazine is effective against Hemolytic Streptococcus, Staphylococcus, Meningococcus, Pneumococcus, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Escherichia coli, Shigella, and other sensitive bacteria, as well as Chlamydia trachomatis, Actinomyces, Plasmodium, Nocardia stellaris and Toxoplasma gondii, etc. Microorganisms have inhibitory effects.

 

The Application & Function of Sulfadiazine :

1. For the prevention and treatment of meningococcal meningitis caused by sensitive bacteria

2. For the treatment of acute bronchitis, mild pneumonia, otitis media and skin and soft tissue infections caused by sensitive bacteria.

3. For the treatment of nocardiosis.

4. It can be used as a secondary drug for the treatment of neonatal inclusion body conjunctivitis caused by Chlamydia trachomatis.

5. It can be used as an adjuvant drug for the treatment of falciparum malaria resistant to chloroquine.

6. Toxoplasmosis caused by Toxoplasma gondii is treated in combination with pyrimethamine.
