The Introductction of  N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine:

(NAC), which exerts strong mucus by breaking down mucin complexes, nucleic acids, purulent components in sputum and other mucus and mucus secretions from thick to thin dissolution. In addition, this product exerts a direct antioxidant effect through a free sulfhydryl group (nucleophilic-SH) that can interact directly with electrophilic oxidizing groups.
Acetylcysteine  protects alpha-1 antitrypsin (elastase inhibitor) from inactivation by hypochlorous acid (HOCl). Hypochlorous acid is a strong oxidant produced by myeloperoxidase in activated phagocytes. These properties make this product particularly suitable for the treatment of acute and chronic respiratory infections characterized by thick mucus and viscous secretions.

The Application & Function of  N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine  :

Antioxidants and mucopolysaccharide agents. It has been reported to prevent neuronal apoptosis, but induce apoptosis of smooth muscle cells and prevent HIV replication. May be a substrate for microsomal glutathione transferase.

Used as a phlegm-dissolving drug. It is suitable for respiratory obstruction caused by a large amount of sticky phlegm obstruction. Because this product has a special odor, taking it can easily cause nausea and vomiting. It has a stimulating effect on the respiratory tract and can cause bronchospasm. It is generally used in combination with bronchodilators such as isoproterenol, and at the same time with a sputum suction device. It should not be in contact with metals (such as Fe, Cu), rubber, oxidants, etc. It should not be used together with antibiotics such as penicillin, cephalosporin, tetracycline, etc., so as not to reduce its antibacterial effect. Use with caution in patients with bronchial asthma.
