The Introduction of Riboflavin
Riboflavin, also known as vitamin B2, is one of the B vitamins, slightly soluble in water, and is stable when heated in neutral or acidic solutions. It is a component of the flavonoid cofactor in the body, and if deficient can affect the biological oxidation of the body and make the metabolism impaired. The lesions are mostly manifested as inflammation of the mouth, eyes and external genital area, such as stomatitis, labyrinthitis, linguitis, conjunctivitis and scrotal inflammation, so this product is often used in the prevention and treatment of the above diseases.
Riboflavin has a solubility of 12mg/100mL at 27.5°C. It is soluble in sodium chloride solution, easily soluble in dilute sodium hydroxide solution, easily soluble in alkaline solution and stable in strong acid solution. Resistant to heat and oxidation. Irreversible decomposition caused by light and UV irradiation.
Most of the dietary vitamin B2 is present as flavin mononucleotide (FMN) and flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD) coenzyme forms bound to proteins. Upon entering the stomach, it is separated from protein by the action of gastric acid and is absorbed in the upper part of the small intestine after being transformed into free form vitamin B2 in the upper digestive tract. However, the body's ability to store vitamin B2 is limited, and it is excreted in free form through the urinary system when the renal threshold is exceeded, so the daily requirement of body tissues must be supplied by diet.
The Application & Function of Riboflavin
1. Promote development and cell regeneration;
2. Promoting normal growth of skin, nails and hair;
3. helping to prevent and eliminate inflammatory reactions in the mouth, lips, tongue and skin, collectively referred to as oral reproductive syndrome;
4. to enhance vision and reduce eye fatigue;
5. affect the absorption of iron in the body;
6. combined with other substances, thus affecting biological oxidation and energy metabolism.
New health effects of riboflavin:
1. Diuretic and anti-swelling;
2. Prevent and control tumors;
3. reduce the occurrence of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.
